Restoring a Legend

restoration-case-study-hero

Some boats are preserved. Others are reborn.

Originally launched in 1929 for New York businessman William F. Ladd, this 38-foot Chris-Craft Commuter Cruiser was once known as the “Queen of the Fleet.” Designed for daily commuting from Long Island to Manhattan, she represented the pinnacle of craftsmanship and luxury of her era.

Nearly a century later, Coeur Custom Wood Boats undertook a comprehensive restoration to return this historic yacht to her finest condition since new — honoring original design while strengthening structure and performance for the future.

SCOPe OF RESTORATION

This vessel had previously undergone rebuilds in 2006 and restoration work in 2020. The 2025 restoration focused on elevating both authenticity and performance, ensuring long-term integrity without compromising historic character.

The Result

Today, this Chris-Craft stands in the finest condition of her life since original launch. Her restored vintage features, updated mechanical systems, and refined finishes allow her to cruise with the elegance of the Roaring Twenties — while performing to modern expectations.

A legacy preserved.
A classic strengthened.
A legend returned to the water.

Preserve the Past. Strengthen the Future.
